Hi DocRick,
Just finished reading and looking through "'Borrower' Vet Tech in the Big World" and I really enjoyed it. Tati is a brave little woman who got out into the Big world and through persistence, determination and courage, managed to make a place for herself in the gigantic "bean" society. Yes, she was in more danger than if she had stayed back in her safe, "normal" world but when things got scary she had her giant friends and her own strength and pluck to see her through. I am also happy that Tati and Monica ended up together, at least for now.
I had always understood that the TV series "Land of the Giants" was a take-off of Swift's "Gulliver's Travels", showing us that the passengers of the Spindrift crash-landed in the equivalent of the land of Brobdingnag from that book, where everything was 12X larger than "normal". The "Little People" in that story (who were "normal sized" on Earth) were approximately 15 centimeters tall there, which averages out to 6 inches in the English system.
But I didn't realize until reading your "Borrower" tales that the "Little People" in those stories were also approximately 6 inches tall as well, which makes their stories analogous to "Gulliver" and "LOTG", except that the "Little People" in these stories (like Tatiana) are already here on this planet.
Hmmm...makes you wonder whether their ancestors in the remote past may have reached this planet on a spaceship that has long since been destroyed and that part of Borrower history has been expunged by the Elders so their people who struggle on this gigantic world will forget they are not from here originally and make the best of their new lives here. Just a thought.
Anyway, I enjoyed this story. It's obvious that you put a lot of thought and work into the stories and images that you share here.
Thank you,
Kara
I can't discuss LOTG without sharing some images of my heroine, Valerie Scott, played by the lovely Deanna Lund...
