Chapter 8: Completing the set
"That was perfect, Lonnie," Simone said as she leaned forward out of her friend's hands on her shoulders. "Thanks again."
Lonnie gave a semi-neutered grunt in reply.
Ever since the accidental backrub Wes had given a shrunken Simone a few weeks back, the guys had taken turns giving Simone massages, This practice had somehow migrated to the non-shrunken world. Simone didn't mind because it relaxed her shoulders and back, which she had probably been overworking since she got her balance and confidence back, The guys liked the increased "tactile time" they got with Simone. Lonnie had especially enjoyed looking down the modest scoop of Simone's workout top as he worked on her shoulders. The pleasure Lonnie got looking down at Simone's impressive cleavage was only enhanced by watching her breasts move as he kneaded her shoulders.
But as enjoyable as all the back rubbing was, it was equally frustrating. The boys were firmly established in Simone's friend zone, with no chance of relocating,
"By the by, keep Friday morning open," Simone added. "We got our first batch of applications to review."
The guys managed to suppress a colletive groan at that disappointing bit of news.
Simone's father knew about his daughter's desire to emulate Doc Savage, including establishing her own Fabulous Five (he was, however, blissfully unaware of her shrunken workouts). Simone's father considered the Three-Fifths "good, safe boys," and approved of their friendship with his daughter.
He also knew of each boy's financial situation, and that they probably would not be able to attend universities worthy of their intellects. So, to that end, Simone's father established a trust fund that would pay the guys' tuition and other expenses, even through graduate school. There were a couple of caveats, however.
The first one was that the guys and SImone all had to attend the same university, at least for their undergraduate studies, The guys didn't mind that part in the least. It was the other thing that Simone's father did that had them bummed out.
A couple of weeks ago, on the fiftieth anniversary of the Doc Savage movie starring Ron Ely, Simone's father had rented the local six screen theatre for the day, and had free screenings of said movie. Afterwards, he announced a scholarship competition for the two empty slots of Simone's Fabulous Five.
Simone was absolutely thrilled at the prospect of rounding out her Fabulous Five. The guys were understandably less than thrilled. They knew...THEY KNEW!...that one of the guys who won one of the scholarships would swoop in and take Simone away from them.
When Simone told the guys they would be part of the selection process, they were initially hopeful. They'd be able to stop anyone who could obviously steal Simone away from them from winning a scholarship, Then they learned they would only have "input." They wouldn't have any veto power. There was already an advisory board established, with Simone's father having the final say so in the selection process.
Simone was going on and on about what the final two men of her Fabulous Five would be like, completely oblivious to the misery she was inflicting on her Three-Fifths.
"You know, they don't have to both be guys," Wes finally interjected. "One or both of them could be girls."
Simone paused midsentence to consider what Wes had said. "You know, you're right. There's no reason the Fabulous Five couldn't be co-ed," she observed, adding "Haven't I been the ironic sexist!" With that observation, Simone began speculating what the young women who joined the Fabulous Five would be like. This inexplicably lightened the hearts of the Three-Fifths.
