Alex's Odessey

Missy and Joey eventually fell asleep playing. Mrs. Reynolds peeled Alex out of Missy's hand and stripped off the baby doll outfit and gave her something a little more comfortable. Alex noted how much the sweatshirt felt like her old clothes, soft and thinner material than the doll clothes she had been wearing. Mrs. Reynolds told her when she inquired about this that she had found an online site that sold better quality doll clothing, so she bought some for her. Then, Mrs. Reynolds placed Alex on her desk inside a pen. Alex saw that it was not a baby pen, but a miniature sized dog pen. Her feelings of hopelessness and helplessness began to overwhelm her again and she couldn't eat the potato chip Mrs. Reynolds gave her.

Later, Mrs. Reynolds and Alex shared some gummy bears, one of her favorite treats before she was shrunk. This did cheer her up somewhat. Although, she will probably be snacking on this one bear for a week.

When Missy woke up from her nap, Mrs. Reynolds put she and Alex on the floor to read a book while she starts dinner. Alex kept trying to sneak off and Missy kept grabbing her and bringing her back. Finally, Missy put Alex in a jar so she couldn't try to sneak off again. This was another shock to Alex, just another slap in the face reminder of her helplessness at her size in the hands of the Reynolds family. Fortunately, she didn't have to stay in the jar that long as dinner was ready soon.

The end of another day, Mrs. Reynolds is putting Alex to bed, peeling off her clothes to change her into PJs. She noticed the bra Alex was wearing. Alex told her it was in the last batch of doll clothing she gave her, and she was amazed by the quality and detail. As Alex was changing, Mrs. Reynolds slipped the bra into her pocket. Alex never saw it again.

Alex didn't sleep well that night. She feared she may have done or said something to offend Mrs. Reynolds and she didn't want to risk losing her only "protector". In the morning, she put on a frilly and cute outfit and when Mrs. Reynolds picked her up out of the dollhouse, Alex reacted to her "petting" like a happy little kitten. This seemed to make Mrs. Reynolds relax a bit and she sat with her coffee for longer than usual, just gently stroking Alex's hair and back while Alex wriggled and pushed into her fingertip with a soft, purr-like sigh.

Enjoying the peace and quiet time before the kids woke up, Mrs. Reynolds and Alex shared some breakfast strawberries and a little bonding time. "Like a helpless little kitten and its owner", Alex couldn't help but think.

Missy wanted to play "School" so Mrs. Reynolds made up a school uniform for Alex. The classroom was a box and was overloaded with "students" of various sizes. Poor Alex had to struggle just to keep out from under the other dolls. Mr. Reynolds walked past the door and saw Alex and the look he gave her made her stomach feel ill.

Around lunch, a package arrived at the house. Mrs. Reynolds let Missy and Alex open it and inside was several new dolls called "Bratz". The dolls were all just a little taller than Alex, but the clothes seemed to be just her size. Missy and Alex spent the afternoon playing "dress up", that is Alex dressing up in the doll's clothing and parading around, dancing or in the shown outfit, cheerleading. Alex sometimes got a little help changing clothes from Missy as six-year-olds are notoriously impatient. Although Alex thought the clothes were cute, she couldn't help but notice the material was much thicker and not as soft as the clothing Mrs. Reynolds had given her a few days ago. She wondered why the other clothes were so much like her clothes when she was normal sized, but these were clothes were obviously made for dolls.

Late in the evening, Missy falls asleep on the floor with the PJ clad Alex tucked in beside her, encircled within her body, head and arm. Mr. Reynolds walks in the room towards the two girls and Mrs. Reynolds give him a short "Leave them alone". Mr. Reynolds grunts and walks out of the room. Alex is awake and thinking. Just yesterday, she would use this opportunity to sneak off and explore the house looking for answers to her condition and possible restoration, but right now, she feels safer than she has felt since being shrunk. She just closes her eyes and cuddles into the warmth and softness of Missy's pajamas and drifts off to a deep and peaceful sleep.

Alex woke up in the morning to find herself in the dollhouse. She didn't get right up, just laid there as her mind started racing again. While she still believed she would be restored to her normal size again, there was no end to her plight in sight. Anytime she brought it up, Mrs. Reynolds seemed to get irritated and change the subject. Her total lack of freedom was beginning to get to her. She was completely at the mercy of any whim her family......her family?.......her captors?........HER OWNERS?.......desired. To Mrs. Reynolds, she was just a tiny pet. To Missy, she was her favorite doll. To Mr. Reynolds...............Alex feared him as it seems he is wanting to do things to her that she didn't want to think about. When she was normal sized, she could avoid him, move away from him or even politely tell him she wasn't interested in any interludes with him, but at her size, she couldn't even run away from him. She wanted to tell Mrs. Reynolds about his abuses of her, which seemed to be escalating, but she feared even more what Mrs. Reynolds would do. She didn't believe she would choose her over her marriage, if for the children if nothing else. Mrs. Reynolds is a bit of a domineering wife and Mr. Reynolds is rather whipped, but Alex knew she wouldn't be protected by Mrs. Reynolds every second of the day. Sooner or later, Mr. Reynolds is going to find an opportunity to be alone with her and she shivered at the thought of what he might do, her imagination running wild, her heart began racing, she started sweating and shaking with fear when the light in the room came on and she jumped up and screamed. She broke down crying when she saw it was Mrs. Reynolds coming towards the dollhouse.

Mrs. Reynolds picked up Alex and carried her into the kitchen. She got her cup of coffee and proceeded to her office where she set Alex down on the desk. Alex climbed onto the saucer and pressed her back and neck into the warm side of the cup, which felt good on her tensed up muscles. Mrs. Reynolds asked her what was wrong and Alex told her it was just a bad dream. She didn't want to talk any more about
her feelings and fears so she just sat there silently as Mrs. Reynolds stroked her hair and cooed to her like she was attempting to sooth a frightened puppy................

Alex had not been outside since she had shrunk, about two weeks now. Mrs. Reynolds decided to take her outside to the porch deck to get some fresh air and a change of scenery. Alex was suddenly struck by the humongous size of everything, even the leaves of the bush next to the deck were bigger than she was. She ate a few mouthfuls of donut then started wandering around the deck a little. A bird flew close by and Alex hit the deck, curling up in a ball. The realization of her vulnerability came to a new level as she now sees how something as harmless as a bird to a normal sized person would be a terrifying monster to someone five inches tall, further grinding her helplessness and dependency on the Reynolds into her already fractured psyche. Mrs. Reynolds sternly scolded her to not wander out of her sight. Alex replied with a submissive, "Yes, Ma'am". She walked a little further until she was standing near the open door of the house.........

A bellowing voice came from inside the house, followed by stomping feet. "WHAT IS THAT RODENT DOING OUTSIDE?" Alex turned and ran back to Mrs. Reynolds, jumping onto her foot and climbing up onto and hugging her ankle as tight as she could. Mrs. Reynolds said naught a word, just gave Mr. Reynolds a look which made him go back into the house without another word. Mrs. Reynolds reached down and plucked Alex off of
her ankle and set her in her lap for the remainder of their time outside.

Later, Missy and Alex played with her Polly Pocket play sets, Alex playing the role of "Polly".

Missy fell asleep and Mrs. Reynolds was out of the room, Mr. Reynolds took advantage to torment Alex a little, pushing her to the floor and pinning her down with one finger. As she squirmed under the pressure of his fingertip, trying to breathe, Mr. Reynolds sneered, "Aw, the little rodent seems to be caught like a mouse in a trap." He laughed and left her curled up and shaking on the floor.

After a night of restlessness and bad dreams, Alex was grateful to see Mrs. Reynolds come to the dollhouse. She will stand up, lift her arms as if welcoming the giant hand reaching for her to pick her up. On nice mornings, it means sitting on the deck and watching the sunrise. This morning routine has become Alex's favorite part of her day as it's the only time she can truly relax and feel safe even though she has to accept Mrs. Reynold's constantly stroking her hair and back like she was her little pet, which in fact, a pet is exactly what she is to Mrs. Reynolds.

Even though she knows she is physically helpless in her condition, Alex is trying to keep her mind hard by concentrating on survival techniques. For example, she has learned that if she can keep Missy occupied so Mrs. Reynolds can do her work, she will keep them in her office, out of the greasy hands of Mr. Reynolds. So, with the new Bratz clothing and Missy's Barbie dolls, Alex and Missy put on a fashion show. Missy dresses the Barbie Dolls and Alex dresses herself, though on occasion, Missy forgets and grabs and starts undressing Alex. Mrs. Reynolds, being right there next to them, easily corrects Missy's behavior with just a word, saving Alex what little human dignity she still has.

When Missy fell asleep, Mrs. Reynolds scooped up Alex and took her for a walk outside in the rose garden. She didn't talk to her about anything, just casually stroked her hair and her shoulders while she walked, though she did pick and give Alex a rose. Alex was perplexed by this, but she still doesn't want to say or do anything that might interfere with Mrs. Reynolds desire to protect her, even if it is only as a tiny helpless pet.

Mrs. Reynolds took Missy and Joey to put them down for naps, leaving Alex on top of her desk. Mr. Reynolds, seeing Alex unattended, walked and reached out to grab her.

Mr. Reynolds slammed his hand down on the desk to cut her off. Alex, having even more athletic ability now than when she was normal size, easily jumped to the top of his hand and was nearly over when he thumped her in the chest with his finger, knocking her backwards and onto her butt. He just laughed and left her on the desk, nursing her bruised.............ego.

Missy wants to play and there's nothing Alex can do about it.

Could it get any worse than this?

The next day, Mrs. Reynolds had to run a few errands and left the kids with Mr. Reynolds with instructions that they are not allowed to play with Alex until she gets home. Well, Mr. Reynolds, being the good husband that he is, complied with her instructions. However, she didn't mention HIM so he decided to "play" with her himself. He grabbed her out of the dollhouse and pinning her arms to her sides, he began to strip her shorts and underwear with his finger. To her surprise, he didn't get sexually physical with her, just seemed to want to scare and humiliate her.

He dropped her on the floor, from about a foot off the ground. At Alex's size, the impact wasn't enough to injure her, but it knocked the wind out of her. As she sat on the ground, trying to catch her breath, he lifted his foot over her as if he was going to step on her. He held his foot just over her head with Alex within it's shadow for a few moments, then stepped down. He looked down on her and said, "Hmmmm. We nearly had a tragic accident here. Rodents shouldn't be scurrying around underfoot. I would hate to have to flush your squished remains down the toilet like that last rodent." He picked her up and dropped her back in the dollhouse, laughing as he walked out of the room, leaving Alex curled up in a fetal position, crying and trembling.

When Mrs. Reynolds came home, she went to check on Alex. Instead of greeting her happily, Alex was backed into the wall of the dollhouse wearing a pair of heavy doll slacks and bulky rubber doll shoes. She asked Alex what was wrong, but Alex didn't answer. Mrs. Reynolds decided to just leave her alone for a while.
