Supers vs the evil Pocketeers

Post by Elana » Thu May 16, 2019 4:14 pm

If you want to join up, have a look at the first post in the recruitment thread ( viewtopic.php?f=17&t=970 )for the rules.

It is the city of Swuhtropolis. A nice peacefull village with only a few hundred thousand citizens ;)
About a week ago the Pocketeers first appeared. Evil vilains flying around with jet packs using shrink guns on innocent women and then grabbing them taking them to who knows where.
They managed to go unopposed, but things are to change soon.

Just now one of them comes swooping down over the college campus, preparing to get a few pretty students...

Far from the city was the private estate owned by the wealthy heir to the Donavan Fortune, the mid twenties billionaire known as Oxnard M. Donavan. Oxnard wasn't some gitty socialite like most wealthy individuals, he was more of the lines of a cold engine of logic with never ending funds thanks to the years of private weapons manufacturing. His parents would be proud had it not been flr their mysterious death in peru.......which only aided to help fund Oxnard's wealth thanks to the insurance claimed after their deaths. For years the young billionaire spent his time in this private land tinkering with new weapons and armor for the family business; even if he was adviced of the health hazards that could and can happen.

This invasion proved to be quite the opportunity for the young billionaire. Yes, on the one hand he could take credit for saving the day as the "Hero" of Swuhtropolis, but his true intentions were to capture these Pocketeers and bring their technology into his labs. People would pay top dollar for shrink rays, mini maker grenades, and even "micro" wave tech. He could also turn a profit in other areas but he was more focused on capitalizing on this for himself. Yes, this was truly a golden opportunity.

Oxnard armed up the prototype MK 1 Argonaut armor. Originally intended for a demonstration in Afghanistan for the US military, this set piece came equipt with an intangible deflection shield, jet boasters, and practical Ion projectile beams all powered by an Ionic battery; although this was all relatively new with no field testing of any kind. Oxnard donned this large titanium based warsuit and adjusted the viser over his head

He set the coordinates of where these Pocketeers were, the college, and was flying off. Their tech would soon be his.

Not much has changed at campus.
People were still running around screaming, while the Pocketeer chased them, flying with his jet pack, shooting his shrink ray occasionally at some student who catches his eye.

The Titanium Tormentor checked his bearings before deciding to fly over the campus. He crouched before taking off and scorching the grass below him. He flew about thirty feet innthe air and spotted what appeared to be someone else in a jetpack.

What a primitive means of flight; and here I was hoping for anti gravity technology along with your size alteration devices," he called out as he flew towards the Pocketeer, "allow me to introduce myself. I am your future master; here to collect my new tools. Hand them over and I may let you live."

The shrink beams deflect from his deflection Sheild and ricochet hitting a girl running for her life. She shrinks instantly.

The Titanium Tormentor was impressed with the magnitude of the size beam but hadn't counted in the Sheild draining the battery down by 17%.

"Hope you have shields of your own; if not then consider this my mercy."

He charged up the beams in his gauntlets and fired.

((The first roll already included your counterattack, so I ignore the second one :P )

As you mentioned in your own post your force field did block the shrink ray, but barely.
Your counterattack on the other hand did go through the Pocketeers armor.

Who bravely decided to run(fly) away.

Knowing fair well that your suit is superior he decided to grab a (not shrunken) student and just throw her in the air.
Hoping you would prioritize catching her over catching him

The fool left himself open for the attack. Sure he grabbed a woman as a distraction. It was clever but so was what this mechanical madman had in mind.

He decided to take the bait and used his boaster to catch her in midair.

This acr of "heroism" did come at a price; the battery drained more by 10%

The student grabs on to Titanium Tormentor panickly.
Outside of a chase that could probably feel very nicely :D

The Pocketeer meanwhile flies very low over the ground and goes into the streets at high speed.
Probably hoping to have a higher maneuverability

He lands down and sets ber aside. Normally a hero would try and fly up to find where the enemy has hidden off too; the Titanium Tormentor, however, charged up his ion weapons and fired at random buildings to draw out the Pookcteer.

"You can run but you won't HIDE!" He obliterated most of the westwing.

The crumbling buildings certainly reveal a good view to the fleeing villain.
But unfortunately it did not get him to slow down.

So if you had to chase him down in a straight line it would probably take you 15 to 20 seconds to catch up.

But of course with no buildings for cover, there is also no real reason why you couldn't just shoot him down

The Pocketeer ducked your shot, so you only damaged another building blindly returned the fire.
And shooting blindly seemed for him to be better than aiming as part of his shot actually finds its way through your shield and you lose about half an inch

This was quite a surprise but it would appear this beam had a lighter effect Oxnard and his warsuit in comparison to those many civilians who shrank instantly. He would have to take the time to study these effects on his armor sets........after he obtains these gadgets and "asks" this Pocketeer to reveal his secrets.

He used his boasters to launch himself fifty feet in the air and decided to dive bomb the area. "Ready or not Here comes the pain!"

He aimed his Ion blasted behind himself and used it as an additional boast a long with the suits main thrusters. The battery level was now remaining at 47%

The technology of the Pocketeer is inferior in any way, so you catch up rapidly. Getting close enough to be able to touch him

Noticing that running doesn't work the Pocketeer stops suddenly and tries to fight his way out of this.

Just as the Titanium Tormentor comes crashing in he sets up he deflection Sheild. This was both brilliant and stupid on for two reasons. The first was that he has no idea if his shields could deflect the beam at this given moment or if if it would let the beam bypass. The second was of the beam didn't hit him the his impact lf "landing" would given the high velocity. This was a gamble; abd unfortunately this mechanical madman was that kind lf gambler

He risks the shields activation.

As predicted the shield fails to stop the beam in time costing him a bit lf his height; but impact may vary

I don't like to contradict you, but your shield holds up just fine :P
Sure the energy absorption is taxed out to the maximum but it does manage.

Dammit, I wish the boss would have given me something else to defend myself with

And not knowing what else to do, he flies backwards and shoots again

In defense you shoot again..and this is enough to make the poor Pocketeer crush tumbling down onto the ground.

The Titanium Tormentor rises up from the heavily dented semitruck and shakes it off.

He hadn't realised he'd won. "Wait what.....er I mean, Just as I planned!" He lied before marching up and punching the Pocketeer in the head. He knocked him out. "I won't kill you now; no, I have much bigger plans for you," he had a sinister grin on his face; even if the helmet hid his evil demeanor. He grabbed the Pocketeer's weapon and took the moment to study it before he heard the sirens blair. He grabbed the Pocketeer and hoisted him on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'm nkt going to turn you in; you'll be coming with me. You and the many new test subjects you acquired." He launched himself in the air and took off to his lab with a new prisoner and a few tiny hostages that came with him.

That part at least works without a problem.

Checking the shrink ray you notice that the weapon is designed to only work for someone with the correct DNA.
You are of course sure that you can get around that security measure, but it will take time.

But a few hours into your investigation of the technology you notice that you are starting to sprout fur.

Maybe it is time to interrogate you imprisoned Pocketeer to get some answers. (or to get a full body shave)

Oxnard kept the Pocketeer in prison cell made up durable plexiglass and rigged with hidden electro charges and tranquilizers. He marches in dressed in lab coat but has noticeable blotches of fur.

"It would appear you're up," he smirked, "let's get the obvious question out of the way; why have you come to this planet?"
