well, you should specify what the new power is

(Considering that The Titanium-Terror has now obtained the pocketeer shrinkray technology, I'd say it's now been studied and a modified variant has been added onto the MK .1 warsuit variant; The Reduction Ray. And with the power level at 6(12) I'd say the power output is more greater then the standard pocketeer shrinkray.)

yes of course.
After a chapter you can improve, so you slowly get better at the job

(I think I'll increase Body by 1 point, since that's my lowest stat).

That is sound reasoning.
On the other hand, increasing your power by 2 would give you a better chance at strong spirits, which might help you to not need your body score
