Haa! I wish I could draw like that. It's someone's AI from DeviantArt.

Yea, but it is the photo montages and such that get all the likes.
I added a lawyer here to give a sense of scale.
The original comes from a DeviantArt account, so I'm not sure what will happen if I put a mod back on DeviantArt. Technically since it is AI, it isn't copyrightable, but I actually do respect AI users more than that. The lawyer is just off of google image search, and so probably IS subjected to copyright. But I'll never know by whom. So we will see what happens.

Yes I can see the fun in that creation, and I wouldn't worry about legal stuff too much if it's just a one off. And let's face it, who's going to notice on DA anyway? There'll be an absolute plethora of work on there that's been stolen or borrowed from somewhere.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 10:02 pmYea, but it is the photo montages and such that get all the likes.

But getting back to the point, I'd say stick to your own original style and be proud of it, as it will still be appreciated by more discerning viewers. Then at least you won't have to label it as AI generated (or assisted) art, as the DeviantArt policy now in place requires it should be.

Well, I did notify the original AI artist on DA. I'm not clear on if this violates DA rules, which seem to be written against people just copying whole works and claiming they made them. I did once use a background from DA and the artist didn't like it. But that was CGI, not AI. (Of a Tardis interior, interestingly.)

It might not be AI, but it's instantly recognisable as your own work.
What's the story behind these characters you create. Are they part of an imaginary family or group of friends?

I'm not a lawyer and I never played one on TV, but I believe to be considered copyright infringement, you have to claim the work as your own or make money off of it. I've found many original images that I've seen on other collager's postings so I would have to assume it's an accepted practice for forums like this one. As far as making a pornographic image of someone, i.e. "celebrity fakes", I doubt there is anything anyone can do about it as you will see many, many fakes on image sites on the 'Net. One DA has blocked me from his site, apparently for using one of his models in one of my stories. Fortunately, I found the same model on Bing so I still have images to continue my story. I did try to message him/her to ask permission, even though his site doesn't say you have to, but never got a response, just blocked.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 4:04 amWell, I did notify the original AI artist on DA. They are based on real members of The Process forums that I used to roleplay with. A few of them are still around. OhZone, and Sailor Dolly, for example.Little Sally wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 9:20 pmWhat's the story behind these characters you create. Are they part of an imaginary family or group of friends?
What happens when they do that? You can't see their art anymore? I don't want to be blocked from my favorite posters. One DA has blocked me from his site, apparently for using one of his models in one of my stories.

I always liked Oh Zone, she's one of the better people on that weird place.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 2:03 amThey are based on real members of The Process forums that I used to roleplay with. Yes as Doc says, DA prevents you from making contact if you're blocked by someone.
It once happened to me, and the person blocked me because he said I'd accused him of plagiarism. This was complete rubbish of course, but I couldn't get back to him to find out what the problem was.. because I was blocked!
This bothered me because I never intentionally upset anyone, so I ended up creating another DA account in order to make contact with him. I pretended to be a friend (of me) and that I'd been asked to find out what I'd done wrong. Long story short it worked. We both agreed that it must have been some malicious prank played by someone else.
So that's one way to get around the problem of finding out why someone blocks you.

Re: Some Sai stuff sorted sortof
I used to just grab random pics off of Google or Duck Duck Go. But now the best starting material is on DeviantArt, the same site where I post. This is different because now I can reasonably talk to the original artist, and perhaps receive an unhappy reply. AI images are supposedly not subject to copyright, but I still don't want to offend people. I guess there is nothing left but to do it and see what happens.
Not everyone was shrunk by the weird curse. Those unaffected still found it strange to work with their reduced and weakened colleges. Their big eyes and soft high pitched voices seemed so different from the people they remembered. Should they still treat them as equals? It was vital not to offend them in their time of need. And their was always the question: Would we be shrunk as well?

There are a large number of stock providers on DA who are happy you use their work, providing they get due acknowledgement (and often include your efforts in their favourites). Can't see a problem with any other artist either, as long as you ask nicely and credit them.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:35 pmI used to just grab random pics off of Google or Duck Duck Go. Yes, I suppose it's best to ask with AI stuff as well, though technically AI imagery isn't original art in the truest sense. But whoever puts it out there feels some ownership of it I guess.

Re: Some Sai stuff sorted sortof
I found pictures of my model on Bing Images, the same model and even has pictures of her that are NOT on the DA site that blocked me. Her pictures, same ones as DA and others not on that DA, are also found in MetArt and other sources, so I have my doubts the creator of the page is the photographer or owner of the pictures. Lots and lots of pages have the same picture as other pages, sometimes giving the name of the original artist, sometimes no wording at all, just a picture.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:35 pmI used to just grab random pics off of Google or Duck Duck Go. How do I search for these stock providers? I usually use the search option (next to the bell icon) top of your page. For instance, I've just typed in "stock archives" and got a few examples up, but if you want something more specific then maybe enter whatever image type you're looking for, followed by the word stock. Or just try entering exactly what the image is you want.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 12:43 amHow do I search for these stock providers? It can be hit and miss to be honest, and you just have to try different key words or phrases and keep looking.
I'm not sure what it is you're after regarding AI. Is it a subject figure featured in an artist's work, or is it a background or part of the picture, or the entire work itself?
If you use an artist's work (even if partly adapted) that is recognisable as such, then the artist will likely be notified by DA. This happened with one of my own creations recently, but I'd given permission so all was well.
If you've tried to contact an artist for permission and they haven't responded, then I'd feel inclined to use whatever it is and just credit them for the source material. Then at least it shows you've tried, and just see what happens.

Re: Some Sai stuff sorted sortof
It is complex, and not always obvious. I'll look through dozens or hundreds of pics before settling on something that looks shrinkable. The model herself is most important. There needs to be something cute and vulnerable in the facial expression or pose. It can't just be your generic fashion model pose. That gets quite boring. Also technical things like full body, focus, lighting, can't use too wide a lens, can't be too hard to cut out, ext. Adding an extra term like "stock" to the search can drop the quality of results to nothing.Little Sally wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 7:29 amI'm not sure what it is you're after regarding AI. Finding backgrounds can be work too, but doesn't have the emotional baggage.
