The story you're mentioning may be "lab acident" you can find it on this forum in the vsw story section on the very last page.

I remember that one from the old VSW board. A quick look through the wayback machine and I couldn't find it, but that might be because of the last time the old site was archived there. I sadly don't have any clues to author or even the name. But now it's itching my brain.
