The Fairy Door

Mary happened to find a frog on the way and told Henry the fairy tale of "The Princess and the Frog". Henry was not falling for it. "Nope, I don't care if it might turn into a prince, I'm not kissing a frog".

Mary is with her. She'll take care of her so nothing can happen to her.......we hope.

The "waterfall", while not too impressive to a bean, was an irresistible lure for Henry....sometimes a girl just got to do what a girl got to do........

After climbing to the top of the waterfall, not an easy feat for a tiny girl as the rocks were covered with wet moss and quite slippery, she stood at the edge and to Mary's delight, she took a dive off the rock into the pool below.

Henry popped back to the surface and began swimming to the edge of the pond. Mary thought she might need a hand and reached down to her little swimming friend.

Mary picked Henry up out of the water by pinching the sides of her chest just below the arms, then rotated her hand so she was sitting in her palm, her feet dangling over the side. She lifted Henry back to the top of the rock for some more of her diving exposition.

Mary said it was time to go. Henry was having too much fun and protested that they had plenty of time and she didn't want to leave now. Mary told her she needed to cool off a little and held her under the waterfall until she agreed it was time to go.

What they didn't know was Mr. McGee was lurking around the property, looking for evidence of the stash of Roman coins or even "little people". Though he was too far away to see Henry, his suspicions were aroused by Mary's actions and her appearing to be talking to herself.

One the way home, Henry noticed an apple tree in bloom. She asked Mary to lift her up to the flowers. Henry was so entranced with the aroma, she shoved her head into the blossoms, infusing the scent into her hair.

Back at the house, Mary sets Henry down near one the exterior wall "fairy doors". Then she walked over to the fence around the garden and climbs onto the top rail and attempts to walk it like a balance beam. She turns to look at Henry, saying "Look at me".....and her foot slips off the rail.......

Mary struck her head on the fence as she fell, then she rolled down an embankment where she couldn't be seen by anyone standing by the fence. Henry managed to get down the embankment to her, finding her unconscious and bleeding from her head. She knew she had to do something......she knew what it was..something very frightening and could be dangerous to her and her parents.

Henry climbed up the embankment, across the yard to the house and in through one of the exterior fairy doors. She ran through the wall passageways, exiting the walls into the kitchen. Yelling as loud as her little lungs could manage, she searched the house for Lydia. She wasn't in the kitchen, not in the dining room, not in the sitting room, not in the living room. For a bean, this was a short walk but it was an endurance run for little Henry. Good thing she keeps herself in top shape, even though "borrowing" has not been on her itinerary lately. Henry ran into Lydia's home office and saw her sitting on the couch with her laptop in her lap. Henry yelled for help, but Lydia seemed oblivious to her. Then Henry looked up and saw that Lydia was wearing headphones !!! She ran right up to Lydia's foot and began punching and kicking her foot and ankle. Startled, Lydia looked down and saw Henry. Her eyes opened wide and she could only get out "What the f.........."

Normally I am not that interested in Borrowers and other people who are born little. They are the same size all of their lives and it's normal for them. Whereas if a woman is a full 5' 5" for most of her life and then suddenly loses 5 feet of that height, it's a very different situation.

Having said that, I am really enjoying your story about little Henrietta..I mean Henry! It is well thought out and charming, especially when Henry meets Mary and they become friends against all of Henry's better instincts. It's also amazing that you are able to find or put together all the images to enhance this little tale. It all works wonderfully well. I hope you are able to finish the story at some point.

All things must come to an end and this story will be no exception. However, I have no idea how it is going to end. I haven't thought that far ahead.

Lydia keeps looking down at Henry, dumbfounded. Henry just keeps yelling "Mary's hurt" over and over until Lydia snapped out of her trance. She stuttered, "Where? Show me?" Henry jumped up and down yelling "No time. Pick me up !!!!!" Lydia extended her hand towards Henry but was hesitant to pick her up. Henry ran at her hand and too a flying leap at her palm, wrapping her arms around her thumb. Lydia awkwardly, but gently curled her fingers around Henry and lifted her off the floor. Henry pointing towards the kitchen, yelling "Outside...over the fence". Still holding Henry in her hand, Lydia started running.
