.. there are no shadows on the ground, no overlays or anything .. just a cut out of Carol Vorderman pasted on a random background.

Well, that means you chose good images. The light on the plants directly behind Ms. Vorderman is also shining on her, but the shadows of the plants just in front of the hand make the shadow on the palm of the hand blend in well. Anyways, I like it.
