Shrinking crystals story???

Around 20 years ago (or longer) I read a shrinking story where a man used shrinking crystals on his wife, her sister and one or two of their friends. The initial shrinking took place by having them drink something (wine???) that had the crystals dissolved in it. The shrinking was slow and they shrunk out of their clothing. Later on in the story the man visits a sandwich shop and evidently another way to use the crystals is to hit one with a hammer where it sends out a ray and shrinks someone clothing and all.

If someone knows of the story I'd love to find it again.

I know the story you're talking about. It was still around a lot more recently than that.

Unfortunately for the life of me I can't remember any more details than the ones you gave. But I distinctly remember the hammer and crystal with light shooting out part. I remember that the guy in question was testing how the crystals worked when he did that.
