Agreed, and it could have been even better if they followed the draft script, where she doesn't want to drink the shrinking potion :
Hatter takes a small bottle from his pocket.

MAD HATTER
Drink this.

ALICE
No !

They throw her down onto the table and force the liquid down her throat. She gags and coughs then shrinks to three inches high. They stuff her forceably into a teapot and cram her now extremely over-large clothes in behind her. They cram and cram.

ALICE
(muffled)
Stop!

They stop. Alice's head emerges from the pot.

ALICE
You're suffocating me with my dress.
That, and of course the cut scene with the cats.

 He did surprise her and force her to drink it, just didn't hold her down on the table. Maybe they thought sensitive people may object to it....... :lol:

There's also a better handheld scene when the hatter picks up Alice and puts her on his hat brim.

Are there SW scenes in the sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)?

No shrinking process, sadly. But a nice scene where a tiny Alice slides down a rope, then a fireplace poker... some nice perspective shots. Did look great when I saw it in theaters back then. We also get a quick scene with the Hatter's shrunken family (they're smaller than insects, kept in an ant farm).
