The Dive 1 (+ new extra content)

Post by pokonota » Thu Apr 04, 2024 6:12 am

Min and I have been working on The Dive series, and here is the first episode in the upcoming saga.
This package consists of:

・The original The Dive comic (24 pages), in updated resolution for modern displays - by Dr. Minimizer

・A new 'What If' showing what would have happened to Melanie if a certain event hadn't happened, and thus the giant had had more time to play with little Melanie (15 single-panel pages) - drawn by me

・A new Melanie hi-res character study in color - drawn by me

The Dive 2 release date is tentatively scheduled for 5/4.

Please head over to my Gumroad for the preview (slide the top image) and details, and as always, let me know any feedback and please rate it if you get it:

And while you're at it, please also take a peek at Min's Gumroad:

I mean... Cool? Well, I'd recommend putting in a picture or two (for not wanting customer an entry barrier which is clicking the link and then allowing the cookies, is quite big) in the topic to get people interested. Might also be that the trend shifts and majority are more interested in purely written stories now than art and comics. That's at least where I am.

Also - I think that due to recent GumRoad being crap, people may be at least slightly discouraged from using or visiting that website, even to check what's what.

Good point about putting pictures. Gumroad haven't fully implemented their policies yet, or perhaps they only went hard against the biggest accounts, but so far I've seen a few size creators still operating without problems, like pokonata.

About written stories, I can't say I've noticed that much of a trend shift, beside hand-drawn comics being rarer with the rise of 3D stuff.

Well.. I put 2 images in the preview (you need to scroll that part of the page to see them), I thought that'd be enough.
The truth tho is, by the time I finish a SW works, I''ve usually done an all-nighter and I'm spent and exhausted and just push the 'Publish' button and coming back to work more on it is somehow psychologically blocked (in this case doing promotional materials on deviantart and such, as you say)

Such is when you make art, or any creative works, for many ppl, I think. It's way psychologically tougher than ppl think. It's not like a normal job where you just do it slowly by slowly every day steadily... it's more like either an empty state of "writer's block" where nothing happens or a torrent that drives you crazy to finish it even if you have to skip sleep. So it's very tough on the artist that way
