The Spamhouse anti-spam service prevents posting from my Android hotspot. Given the extremely widespread use of Android phones and mobile hotspots over thousands of the most popular and respectable sites this seems a little odd.

That sounds odd indeed.
As 22.24% of all visitors are indeed using Android I almost sure that the blocking is not based on the operating system

What is blocked are IPs that have been reported at least 3 times in the "Stop forum spam" databases

Thanks, Elana, for getting back to me.

It's what Spamhouse themselves were saying when I first looked it up, i.e. that Android platforms are commonly used for Spam operations and were blocked.

I've always taken care to post high quality content and have never posted Spam or even anything that could be confused for it in my life. If I am being reported, I am being done so under false pretenses and Spamhouse are failing to check their veracity. I am wounded.

IPs can be reassigned to different routers.
Also routers can be hacked.
99% of all spam is send from someone elses computer.
That is why it is so hard to stop it

Sure, that's true. I blame 'Three' which is major operator for not dealing with this and even possibly facilitating it. I'll use another ISP for now. No great hardship, but nonetheless disturbing.
