FANCASTING FOR LAND OF THE GIANTS REBOOT
"THE ENGINEER/THE SCIENTIST"
The series (1968-1970):
MARK WILSON
(Feminine versions are Marcee, Marcella, Marci, Marcia, Marcie, Marcy, Marka, or Marsha)
Aged 39-41
In this case, the candidates are smack dab within the age range. The main criteria was if they had acting experience as scientists or members of a scientific organization.
HAYLEY ATWELL
Aged 39 next month
Best known from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Agent Peggy Carter, officer of the Strategic Scientific Reserve (and a Brit). It was in part thanks to her efforts that Captain America could throw his mighty shield -- God Bless America!
ALICE EVE
Aged 39
Starred as Dr. Carol Marcus, physicist and weapons specialist, in Star Trek Into Darkness. Gorgeous and with a wonderful British accent, she had an admittedly over-the-top fan service scene that armed many photon torpedoes out in the audience. IMHO, I would have preferred her being cast as Yeoman Janice Rand.
ANNE HATHAWAY
Aged 38
Starred in the movie Interstellar as Dr. Amelia Brand, a scientist and astronaut. Sporting a short haircut, she says she can fake a British accent, though she doesn’t like doing it.
NATALIE PORTMAN
Aged 39
Plays astrophysicist Dr. Jane Foster from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She also played Lena, a cellular biology professor and Army veteran, in the movie Annihilation. She learned a fake British accent while working on V for Vendetta, though her Mom hates it.
NOOMI RAPACE
Aged 41
Starred in the film Prometheus as astronaut and archaeologist Dr. Elizabeth Shaw. She also played the super computer hacker Lisbeth Salander from the Millennium series. She's Swedish, not British.
And that is that! This is a tough one to pick. If I had to choose, I'd take Natalie Portman, with Hayley Atwell a close second. To be honest, I'm a bit bias here because I've appreciated Natalie's work back to Leon the Professional. Also, reading Minimizer's "The Shrunken Senator" makes me itch for more Puny Portman. So sue me...
But now it's your turn -- who takes it? Whose cuisine reigns supreme? Or who else should be on the list?
