What if….

Post by MollySmalls » Wed Jun 21, 2023 5:16 pm

Saw Elon Musk post this on Twitter

(https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/167 ... oHGMNJi7PA)

…and it got me thinking. What if AI becomes so powerful that it can genetically sequence us to be able to create tiny genetically modified humans?

What if in our lifetime, we would be actually able to interact with shrunken women catered to your liking? Just a thought….

After seeing the pics AI produces I wouldn't be in a rush for a googly eyed eight fingered three legged tiny lady. I think Shrunken women and Musk's cat ladies are a while off just yet. 😛

Sadly I've accepted that this will always remain only a fantasy. But I do believe AI content generation will get better at provinding media for this interest of ours.

I would be jealous. The tinies would be having all the fun, but they would not appreciate it because they never knew what it was to be full sized.

Even if they could genetically alter human DNA to produce a tiny human, the size of the brain would render them as intelligent as a mouse.

I could see the government doing some sort of incentive program to get people to transfer consciousness to a tinier clone. Then breaking down the organic material of the normal size body to a molecular level to use as material to make more tiny replecants.

The smaller one decides to become, the better the tax incentive.

Not necessarily. We don't know that human brains are as efficient as a brain can be:

Their brains have a volume of approximately 8,000 cubic centimeters. Despite their large brain size, the sperm whales have a lower encephalization quotient compared to plenty of dolphin and whale species. This low quotient means that the sperm whale is not necessarily the smartest creature on the planet.

A sperm whale's brain may be five times as large as a human brain, but its body is 1000 times the size of a human body. All its brain is required just for controlling its muscles and organs so there's nothing left for intelligence. But take the dolphin. Twice the size of a human with a comparable brain and possibly very intelligent....if we could interpret its "language" it just may be smarter than us. A mouse's brain is comparable to ours as far as brain/body ratio and they are not very smart at all.

Maybe the mouse IQ tests are biased.

The average life expectancy of a mouse is under 18 months.
Humans in that age span are not able to survive on their own.
So clearly mice are much smarter than humans :P

((To be fair in lab conditions mice can survive longer and 5 to 7 years are more normal...but they still get no proper education under those conditions))

What about a situation like the 2009 movie Surrogates, except some of the robots are tinies?

Interesting concept if the humans actually feel what the surrogates are feeling.

I can't remember the name of the book, or even if it was a full blown novel. But there was a syfy story that involved insect sized robots, with two kids who would go on "backyard safaris," using the robots to kill predatory insects and such.
