Flash Gordon Comic: "Polaria"

Post by Mrx115 » Wed Sep 09, 2020 3:52 pm

I am looking for a Flash Gordon comic, not the cartoon, which was titled "Polaria" here was the summary of the episode I am looking for: “Polaria” was serialized by King Features Syndicate from September 18, 1949 to January 1, 1950. Prince Polon uses a polar magnet to bring Flash, Dale, and Zarkov’s rocketship in for a crash-landing where they are set upon by a pack of giant rabbits. While fleeing the pack of lepus, Flash stumbles upon Sneek at a ham radio in an ice cave and realizes they were duped as part of a plot by Prince Polon.

The trio is captured by Polon’s cavalry following a dramatic chase. The cavalry hunt them down while riding on the backs of giant wolves. Brought before the regent, they learn Prince Polon’s plot is to force Flash to abdicate and allow the prince to usurp the throne of Mongo. When Flash refuses, Polon has Dale subjected to a ray device that shrinks her to the size of a field mouse. Flash reluctantly agrees in exchange for Dale being restored to her proper size.

I have tried multiple searches, but have not found this episode. If anyone can help and share, it sounds pretty fun to see Dale shrunk-down. Thanks for your help!

.

And that's it for "Polaria" storyline. Not much in terms of SW art, but I liked it anyway.

Many thanks for tracking that down - yes, wish there could have been more interaction with the shrunken Dale (or make her into a giantess - wow!). I appreciate the posting - thank you again!

You're welcome... you gave me enough info that it wasn't hard to track down through online archives.

Crazy to think that even in 1949, "shrinking" was already used as a plot device.
