One thing I would like to mention about this particular manipulation. I tend to use the same technique frequently.
I start with the stock image. In this case, the woman. For the hand, 99% of the time I photograph my own hand(s) for the sake of obvious convenience. But it’s more than that, because I make an attempt to match the lighting on my hand to the lighting on the woman. Here I’ve noticed the lighting on her is coming roughly from the upper left and slightly in front. So when I photographed my hand, I put a lamp in the same position—from the upper left and slightly in front. I also threw in a fake shadow my hand would supposedly cast under these imaginary conditions. It isn’t perfect, but this much attention to detail helps to add to the realism.
Does anyone else make use of this specific lighting solution/technique?
Of course, it would be much nicer to own an actual shrink ray which would eliminate all those pesky annoying problems with getting the image to look real. ![😁](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f601.svg)
