Re: Fable Trailer
Very nice, I was just about to post the trailer here myself.
Got me thinking, wouldn't it be nice if there was actually a whole game with SW as a main plot? I know there's Grounded, Alice: Madness returns, and some other games have a few moments here and there. But let's say as a survival/adventure game... girl gets shrunk in the forest must survive the perils of being mouse-sized. Wouldn't that be cool!

That, and giant people looking to hunt the girl. The closest we got to something like that was Little Nightmares, and those monsters and people were SCARY.foreverlurk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 4:26 pmVery nice, I was just about to post the trailer here myself.

Re: Fable Trailer
Hey thanks for the heads up about "Little Nightmares", looks pretty scary (as it should be).
I think another important feature of such a game would be a proper sense of scale. The player would have to "feel" small... I don't know exactly how that's done, but I think a proper use of field of view / projection and distance blur might be the key. I've always found Docop's animations to be very nice in that aspect :

btw Grounded is coming out tomorrow!

Re: Fable Trailer
Oh please, let there be more than just that for some sizey content when Fable comes out.
Also...someone on the development team's got a SW kink.
Nice.

Re: Fable Trailer
That's the second trailer featuring SW, so I'm pretty sure there will be at least one "size" questline in the game. That being said... I'm not sure she's actually been shrunk - it might be a quest based on "Jack and the Beanstalk".
EDIT : one of the devs who worked on the game confirmed she's not shrunk - he's a giant:

Re: Fable Trailer
It's strange. The game does nothing to make her relatable or interesting or fun. Dave the giant is all those things. And then she (implied) kills him, and the audience is supposed to cheer her on and be on her side. Why? It's clearly Jack and the Beanstalk - but it leans into the issue that many observe with Jack. He's a thief, not a hero. And Dave opens by mocking the idea of heroes, in an interesting and relatable way. In 1:48 when she talks to the viewer suddenly, it is jaring, and totally unearned.
Unrelated, there is also this moment here, where they seem to be the same size:

Re: Fable Trailer
Agreed. My initial excitement was severely dialed down when I realized the character had not been shrunk, and that it was in fact based on the Beanstalk (which is obvious, now that I look at it). A proper size-changing quest in a AAA game would be a dream come true, I guess we'll have to wait. I'll say the size-difference is looking good, if what we've seen is truly "gameplay" and not just pre-rendered. Also I do remember there was a quest in Fable 3 where the hero was shrunk for a pseudo-game of D&D.Prof Sai wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:42 pmIt's strange. Uh. That's weird - nice catch!

Could've at least made the woman's face more attractive though.

Quite!
Not a great example of A1 at work, assuming that's the case of course. Sai?

I don't know about the rest of the world, but this is an example of the "Woke" mentality in the U.S. We are no longer permitted to have our own opinions about things, such as what we consider "beauty". We HAVE to change OUR opinions to concur with THEIR opinions.

Re: Fable Trailer
So Dave's really a human who becomes a giant? The person complaining about the pumpkins looks like a nobleman or some other figure of authority. I'm guessing Dave gets fed up about the Man nosing in his vegetable experiments and does something he really shouldn't for science.
Also, any news about gender representation in Fable 4? Guessing Jack/The Hero represents the player character, maybe the developers are trying to clue us in about the possibilities. Subtly, given the environment.

Looks like the two soap girls approve of A1 on their burgers anyway.
